How much can I alter my bridal gown?

I have a little less than a year to my wedding, and am planning on losing 20-30 lbs before the big day. I was at my target weight a few years ago, at a size 8, and was very happy with how I looked. I found the perfect bridal gown on a discount site, and am planning on ordering it in a size 8 without sending in custom measurements, in the hopes that I will be close to that in a years time. So how much do you think this dress can be altered if I end up over or under a size 8? Is it a terrible idea to order a dress that is too small? It's a designer dress from a wholesale site ($100!), so hopefully I can put it on ebay if it doesn't work out.

Dont forget dress sizes vary from one place to another. You are better off ordering a size 10 cause then you can take it in. If you order a size 8 and it is small you can't take the dress out. Do your research of the wholesale place before you buy the dress and be careful if the dress comes from China. Some manufacturers in China that sell over the net are exellent but some are really bad. And if you do order from China, order a size 10. Good Luck!
