Is hot pink a bad color for a bridesmaid dress?-you're going to think I'm crazy!...?

Ok, here's the deal. I was taking the garbage out yesterday and laying on top of some twigs away from the gross garbage was this pink fabric. I pulled it out, and it's a perfectly fine, barely ever looked at - not even like it was worn - hot pink dress in my size. What are the odds?! There's nothing wrong with it, but I'm wondering why it was tossed in the garbage. If it was a bridesmaid dress, is hot pink just too brutal to keep in your closet? What do you think?
